Memory Secrets for Business Professionals: Boost Your Competitive Advantage by Mastering Names and Faces, Speeches, and More
Two sessions: 9am to noon and 1 to 4pm
We are all in the business of building relationships, and that starts with remembering someone’s name. Getting a name right inspires confidence from the outset and helps others remember you—a powerful advantage when meeting with colleagues and clients alike.
In this three-hour session, you will learn why we often retain many details about the people we meet but forget their names almost at once. Discover how to assign any name to easy-to-grasp categories—no matter what its origin or perceived complexity. Then, engage in fun, imagination-based exercises that teach you how to link the name to the face. You will notice a strong positive difference right away in the quality of your interactions.
Once you’ve grasped these basics, you’re ready for more advanced applications. Master the “Method of Loci,” a technique handed down from the Ancient Greeks. By tying sequential information (lists, speeches, scripts, etc.) to familiar physical locations, your mastery of it will improve dramatically.
We’ll cap our session with The Major System and learn how to turn hard-to-recall numbers into easy-to-picture images. Dating back to the 17th century, The Major System matches related consonant sounds with the digits 0 through 9. When you add in vowels and non-Major consonants, you can build words out of numbers. Dates, credit card numbers, product codes, and even passwords become a snap.
